The Seamstress

Alban Maria Johannes Berg

All girls wait for someone,

When blossoms trees adorn;

Sewing and sewing is all we must do,

Until our eyes are burning.

Our singing will never be joyful,

We fear Spring's arrival too much:

Should we ever find him somewhere,

He will no longer recognize us.
