Mourning
Anton von Webern
Wait until I tell you this:
that I desire you.
A day without you is a sin,
Dying for you is an honour.
If darkness has to descend
let it be me that takes the fatal step.
Night will throw me down onto the grass.
Answer this begging call.
Let me be carried up to heaven.
You will get up unharmed from the ground.
Be witness to and venerate my miracle
And stay down there alive.
