Ich sitz' in meinen Blumen,

I sit in my flowers

Seh still der Welle nach.

Silently watching the water's wave.

Sie rinnt sie rauscht so schnelle,

It races and rushes so quickly,

nimmt hin mein leises Ach!

Taking my soft sigh with it!

Du Welle, liebe Welle,

You wave, dear wave

in Liebchens Mühlenbach!

In the Millbrook of my dearest!

Ich sitz' in meinen Blumen,

I sit in my flowers,

Seh nach dem Häuschen hin;

And look towards the little house:

Dort planzt' ich Blumen viele,

There I plant many flowers

Dort wohnt mein Lieb ja drinn.

There, inside, lives my love.

Wohl schau ich nach der Mühle,

I look towards the mill,

Wohl schau ich immer hin.

I look always towards it.

Und meine schönsten Blumen,

And my most beautiful flowers,

Die trag ich zu ihr hin.

I take them to her.

Daß sie mit Duft und Schimmer,

So that they, gleaming and fragrant,

Die Holde stets umblühn.

Will constantly bloom around the fair one.

Ich will mit Blumen immer

I want to forever cover

Ihr liebes Haus umziehn.

Her dear house with flowers.

Ich möchte ganz sie bergen

I would like to completely hide her

In Blumen süß und schön,

In sweet and beautiful flowers,

Warum, ihr lieben Blumen,

Why, you dear flowers,

Will ich euch leis' gestehn:

Daß alle Junker und Jäger

So that all squires and hunters
