Easter Song
C. Dennée
To the holy Saviour's tomb,
Hasted they at early dawn;
Spice they brought and sweet perfume;
But the Lord they loved had gone.
Trembling while a crystal flood
Issued from their weeping eyes,
For a while they ling'ring stood,
Filled with sorrow and surprise.
But their sorrows quickly fled,
When they heard his loving voice;
Christ has risen from the dead!
Now he bids all hearts rejoice!
What a change his word can make,
Changing darkness into day.
Ye who weep for Jesus' sake,
He will wipe your tears away.
