Green meadows
C. Dougherty
Thro' meadows green I wander'd, in the dusk,
Beside the silent stream;
By shaded paths, in woodlands darkening,
I long for one apart.
O evening fair with skies of blue above,
O starry night,
O moon of silver light,
My aching heart doth yearn!
Lovely night, thou art my own-
Ah! must I love thee alone?
