'Tis better so

'Tis better that we own the truth

'Tis better that at last we see

That promises of golden youth

In old age bring but misery

'Tis better that we part today

Than leave a chance for future woe

'Tis better that we each may say

'Tis better so 'Tis better so

'Tis hard in lives as young as ours

To face the knowledge that we've err'd

'Tis hard to leave behind the flowers

'Tis hard to say the parting word

'Tis harder still when youth has gone

To close our hearts to what we knew

'Tis sad to think that both were wrong

'Tis sad for me 'Tis sad for you.
