The swimmer

Carl Loewe

O joy, o bliss,

how the sun warms

in its glow!

The winches murmur

so softly and so gently,

into the flood!

Leaping down

and sliding boldly

into the swirling waves!

We come tossed

on foamy waves,

on hovering billows.

We stroke and struggle,

to conquer the flood,

surely and boldly!

An agile swimmer

never fears its

dangers and risks.
