Lucky lowness

Georg Philipp Telemann

No bent wind lifts me,

my luck never learns to fly,

so the more secure I become.

Since I am low,

I push nowhere.

He who is already lying down, fears no fall,

and never becomes misfortune's light ball.

Therefore he who must rise is likely to fall.
