From having held your dear hands
Georges Adolphe Hüe
From having held your dear hands
in mine for so long,
this morning I still breathe
a penetrating odor
of verbena.
From having held my eyes
under the spell of yours for so long,
I still hold in my heart
their green-gray-blue-violet
luminosity.
All perfumes and all heavens
drip from your hands
or shine in your eyes.
Come closer. I don't want them
to be so far away.
Oh, come closer,
so that tomorrow
in a loving dream
I will still find
all these heavens on my path
with all their perfumes!
