In mild May

all the world is full of joy,

the little flowers in the open country

revive as well,

and the maidens dancing round sing:

Welcome May!

Two loving hearts

are filled with joy and dalliance,

to sit in the cool shade and forget all grief,

Cupid blind,

the wily child, indeed,

joins quickly with his arrow,

Venus anyway

gives her blessing,

that two hearts might betake to love.

Anyone who takes pleasure

in this very life,

should surrender to love

without delay,

and join the maidens dancing round and sing:
