In the spring
Heinrich August Marschner
My heart withers and sinks,
covered with reeds and shrunken,
hardly is a nightmare more sinister;
confined, I ache and suffer.
But now, the spring comes, the air warms,
the forests green up, the heavens are blue!
The whole world is a bouquet of flowers,
and freely the breast expands!
The world is so beautiful, the heart so full,
glorious world enter into my heart!
