I love you and shall love you forever!

I want to swear it to you anew,

And may all the gods above hear me!

It is written in the depths of my heart:

I love you and shall love you forever!

I feel a fire burning intensely within me.

It is love, even if you give it another name!

Within me is written in letters of fire:

I love you and shall love you forever!

And let me then look into your eyes as well,

Grant me this heavenly rapture

Only until there, too, it is written:

I love you and shall love you forever!
