The joys of love

L. Albites

Oh if I could find some charm of talismanic power

That could bring one moment of Love's magic hour

That sweet blend of pain and of love's blessed rapture

That seems all unending when love is life again

Not fearing that echo who stealthily oft times is ding sic

May hear her footsteps gliding, as rapid we fly,

Or feel that emotion that now is almost betraying,

The thrill of sense and being,

That waits a lover's sweet sigh. Ah! yes.

As swiftly whirling our arms entwining

our hearts divining

What our mute lips would say... Ah!

Or souls ne'er repining in Love's festive day.

Mid raptures of love.

O what pleasures descend from above, descend,

As if heav'n were open'd,

A foretaste to lend.

Mid love's kisses burning

While weeping and yearning

Whilst weeping how blissful to die.
