Dear land of mine

M. Lang

Dear land of mine, for thee I long,

My heart is thine, for thee this song,

On distant seas I'm singing.

Whe'er earth's fairest gardens lie,

not one in fame or pride may vie

With thee whose praise is ringing.

Thou art so pure, thou art so dear,

No bride or sister were more near,

In fairest earthly bowers!

Thy cloak is of the hemlock green;

The azure dome thy hat, I ween;

Thy sandals, meadowflowers.

When Winter crowns thy perfect head,

With glist'ning snow and ice instead,

I humbly stand before thee;

Such purity was never seen;

My spirit bows before my Queen,

Rev'rently I adore thee.
