The spirit spoke: "Look up!" It was a dream.

I lifted my eyes: in the bright expanse of clouds

I saw the Lord break bread for the Twelve,

and speak loving, but foreboding, words to them.

Far above their heads, he invited in the earth

with an all-embracing gesture.

The spirit spoke: "Look up!" Floating linen

I saw, and many already receiving a meal;

spread beneath a thousand hands

were the tables, dim at the ends

in the grey mist, while on the pale steps

miserable forms sat unsummoned.

The spirit spoke: "Look up!" The sky's blue encompassed now

an unmeasurable feast, as far as the eye could see;

there, Fountains of Life frothed richly;

there, no bowl was held out in vain;

there, every people rested on full sheaves

and no place was empty and no one was allowed to starve.
