Thrice round the stable door

W. Hess

Thrice round the stable door, thrice round the house.

Greetings to those within, greetings to all.

In summer the roses bloom, in winter it snows.

I gaze through the window panes, filled with dismay.

Birds call from high above:

'You know what it's like,

looking for somebody,

lonely and sad?'
