After drought

A. Woodforde-Finden

There came an army from the sky,

And surged across the parchèd plain;

I saw the hurrying hosts go by —

The blue battalions of the rain.

O mighty army (bringing peace!)

How bright your helmets seemed to shine!

Your cavalcades brought glad release,

For God was Captain of the line!
