Ihr habt genug getrunken,
Have you drunk your fill,
Ihr Heerden groß und klein,
You herds both great and small?
Die Sonne ist gesunken,
The sun has set,
Die Nacht bricht schon herein.
Night is drawing near.
Viel Wetterwolken eilen
Many storm-clouds scud
Herauf in dunkler Pracht;
In dark splendour across the sky,
Wo mag mein Melek weilen,
Where does my Melek tarry
In dieser schwarzen Nacht? -
In this black night?
Wo er auch immer bliebe
Wherever he may be,
Er steht in Allahs Hut,
Allah protects him,
Mit ihm ist seine Liebe,
His love accompanies him,
Sein Glaube und sein Mut!
His belief and his courage.
