Gott, deine Güte reicht so weit,

God, your goodness extends

So weit die Wolken gehen,

As far as the clouds travel.

Du krönst uns mit Barmherzigkeit

You honour us with compassion

Und eilst, uns beizustehen.

And are quick to our support.

Herr! Meine Burg, mein Fels, mein Hort,

Lord, my fortress, rock and refuge,

Vernimm mein Flehn, merk auf mein Wort;

Hear my petition and heed my words,

Denn ich will vor dir beten!

For it is in your presence that I desire to pray.

So bitt ich dich, Herr Zebaoth,

I ask of you, Lord Zebaoth,

Auch nicht um langes Leben.

Not for a life that's long;

Im Glücke Demut, Mut in Not,

Humility in fortune, in need to be strong;

Das wolltest du mir geben.
